Grip Cannabis cuts post-harvest labor costs by 62% with Marvel
The challenge
Outdoor harvests arrive in a short, weather-sensitive window. Grip - a producer, cultivator, and processor on 60 outdoor acres in Michigan - needed to trim, sort, and grade very large volumes fast enough to protect late-season material from fall conditions without ballooning labor. Previously, 30 to 50 people worked up to 20 hours a day and still couldn't keep pace, driving costs into the millions and putting late batches at risk.
What Marvel changed
Grip implemented the Marvel AI GEN 3 machine as the intelligence layer between existing equipment. T-Zero performs the first-pass trim and S1 separates micro-flowers. Marvel inspects every flower for infections and trim quality, flagging contaminated or subpar flower. Flagged flower auto-routes to the T2 Tandem for re-trimming - cutting manual rework instead of paying people to catch what the line missed.
