Grip Cannabis Cuts Post-Harvest Labor Costs by 62% with Marvel

CASE STUDY

The Challenge

Outdoor harvests arrive in a short, weather-sensitive window. Grip needed to trim, sort, and grade very large volumes fast enough to protect late-season material from fall conditions without ballooning labor. Previously, 30–50 people worked up to 20 hours/day and still couldn’t keep pace, driving costs into the millions and putting late batches at risk.

The Solution

Grip implemented the Marvel AI GEN 3 machine as the intelligence layer between existing equipment to automate quality control and flow-routing:

  • T-Zero performs the first-pass trim and S1 separates micro-flowers.
  • Marvel AI GEN 3 inspects for infections and trim quality, flagging and routing contaminated or subpar flowers.
  • Subpar flagged flowers are auto-routed to the T2 Tandem for re-trimming, cutting manual rework and costs.

The Results

  • 62% reduction in labor costs – $700,000 / harvest season
  • 100% faster trimming throughput
  • Consistent quality across all batches

Intelligent decisioning, not just automation, creating Closed-loop flow control. Marvel evaluates trim quality and contamination, determines the optimal next step, and executes that step all at once.

“2x speed of last season with less than half the crew. Marvel pays for itself in 2 weeks.”
